Hua Wang - An Electric Sheep’s Nightmare

An Electric Sheep’s Nightmare was inspired by my lack of real animal companionship during my childhood. Growing up as an only child in a desert city, my days were akin to being 'Home Alone' with plenty of food and Disney cartoons during the long summer holidays. I had a deep fascination with images and figurines of animals, especially when in printed or digital form. Although real roosters give me the creeps, I diligently care for my Tamagotchi rabbit, whom I bring with me to school every day. As George Orwell noted, some animals are considered more equal than others. Today's animals are emoji, cute and innocent than ever, my Tamagotchi, unfortunately, met its fate in the digital realm and died. But life has now become even simpler and straightforward, as encapsulated by emojis like 🐷☁️📱👹
